Injecting pollutants into the air to stop global warming?

That is just what one climatologist has suggested. Proposed ten years ago and rejected, it is now being discussed again in an attempt to shade the Earth which would keep it cooler. Sulfates would be dropped into the atmosphere from planes and would then form sulfur dioxide in the atmosphere. Although Tom Wigley does not suggest this as a permanant solution he does think it might be viable for short term fixes.
Now is it just me or does injecting pollutants into the atmposhere that are already being immitted by energy plants seem a little counterproductive? First off, it will not fix our problem and secondly, sulfer dioxide affects many health problems such as asthma, heart disease and is a cause of acid rain. Is delaying the inevitable in order to ease our problems for a little while worth the risk we assume. If acid rain increases, we potentially harm our water supplies even more and ruin crop harvests. In addition we could see a rise in health costs assosiated with diseases that are worsened by the sulfur. So essentially all we do is slow down our problem and worsen the affects of acid rain and respiratory illnesses. Some solution!
Unfortunately, there is no way the world will accept the drastic cuts needed in carbon because of the economic costs of doing so but we must slowly begin cutting back immediately. These gradual cuts will grow bigger and as they do we will begin to see change. Since economic demands now tack precident over environmental concerns
